Our classes and projects
Students spend forty-five minutes each week in the Library Media Center. A portion of this time is devoted to selecting library books and for silent reading. Each class also has an instructional component which correlates with the Manchester Academic Standards and/or the ISTE Standards. In the primary grades, the library instruction focuses on reading comprehension and literature appreciation. In the intermediate grades, the library instruction focuses on information literacy (i.e., the ability to locate, access, evaluate, and utilize information). We also incorporate multimedia materials in our library lessons.
Our school district policy requires that we inform HGF families about the videos that our students may view during their time in the Library Media Center. Please click this link to download a list of educational videos that are shown to our students as part of our library lessons.
